Little Stars School provides for a little to no fee a quality education for more than 900 children from underprivileged families in Nagwa, Varanasi, India. It is the only school of its kind in Varanasi from pre-nursery through 12th grade. Our students access a complete education and even have the opportunity to attend university. Students of class 10 and 12 do government exam according UP-board. Since 1996 the school has grown from 7 students to our current population. Fortunately we were able to build an expansion.
The school totally depends on private donations and sponsorships. Average yearly costs: 47,15,000; €52.500; $54.500.
“I kindly invite you to meet the young people of Little Stars School. Please, share your loving kindness and talents with the students or hostel girls during a shorter or longer time of volunteering!”
The girls’ hostel is a licensed shelter home for needy and orphan girls and runs under the Care and Protection of Children Act, 2015.
The home accommodates 26 permanent girls attending the day school while being raised in a family atmosphere. Besides the long-term residents, many girls under eighteen live temporarily in the shelter home. These girls are under police custody or on the order of the Child Welfare Committee. They have family (caste) problems: domestic abuse, have run away from home, or are nonconsensual child brides.
The shelter home is entirely dependent on private donations. Average yearly costs are ₹10,69,500, €12.700, or $13.500.
